If the A-Rod-Manny deal is done will that be the biggest trade All-Time? One may be able to argue that is it due to the fact that A-Rod is the best player in the league.

You can define biggest my any measure you choose (i.e most impactful for a team, best player in the league, etc.).

What are your thoughts? The only trade that I can think of in my lifetime that could potentially be considered larger was the Hershel (sp?) Walker deal.

I don't know if Gretzky to LA Kings was the biggest trade.

I'd say it was amongst probably the most emotional one ever made.

The Walker trade certainly turned out to one of the most lopsided in history.

Gretsky - Kings...nice call...I'll have to think about that one and review the players traded.

Not a huge hockey fan but isn't Gretsky considered the BEST ever? If I recall correctly he holds the key statistical records.

Harvey Kuenn for Rockey Colovito. Kuenn was the reigning batting champ and Colovito was the reigning home run champ when they were traded for each other.

Come on guys.

The Bucks trading Jabbar to the Lakers was both lopsided and ended up creating a dynasty.

1988- traded curt shilling and brady anderson to balt. for mike boddicker ouch

1990- traded jeff bagwell to houston for larry anderson. houston didnt even want bagwell. boston didnt want to give up kevin morton who houston wanted and suggested bagwell to houston. ouch.

boston did get one of these back they traded heathcliff slocumb to seatlle for derrick lowe AND jason veritek. oh man is that one ugly for seattle. i mean, thats really bad.

St. Louis owner Ben Kerner, and Boston Celtic Coach and GM. Red Auerbach made a deal in which 6-8 center Ed Macauley a six-time All-Star at that point, and a local hero in St. Louis, was key to the trade. Auerbach had to give up Macauley if he wanted to get the rights to draft Bill Russell out of U. of San Francisco. The Celtics were forced by Kerner to add Cliff Hagen before he consented to the trade. The deal brought the Hawks a championship in 1958, but it brought the Celtics a dynasty. Essentially it was Ed Macauley, and Cliff Hagen, for Bill Russell. Russell led the Celtics to 11 NBA titles in 13 years. Some trade.

Didn't Elway pull a Lindros and refuse to play for the Colts? I'm not sure, but I remember something complicated behind this.
